The Origins of the MLPOA
The MLPOA has a long and colourful history...
The organization began as an adhoc, grassroots gathering of cottagers in the 1960's, when a group of cottagers formed a coalition to promote the establishment of proper sewage treatment from the town of Madoc. This group was called the "Moira Cottagers for Clean Water". Membership was $3.00 and there were 11 members. In 1984 there were 130 members and dues were raised to $5.00. The Constitution was adopted in 1986, and the Association was incorporated in 1993. The Constitution was revised in 2006.
